Man, woman hurt in Cotabato grenade blasts

MLANG, North Cotabato – A couple was critically hurt when a man tossed two hand grenades in Barangay Nueva Vida here on Easter Sunday night.

Supt. Bernard Tayong, speaking for the North Cotabato police, said Nestor Lambid Nuñez, 58; and his wife Jovy, 54, sustained shrapnel wound in various parts of their body during the 7 p.m. blasts in Purok 2 in Barangay Nueva Vida. Both were now recuperating in a local hospital.

Tayong said the couple was taking their dinner when two explosions rocked their compound.

He said investigators found two grenade levers at the blast site.

Tayong said the police identified a Ronnie Rabor, the couple’s neighbor, as a person of interest based on the statements of the victims. /cbb
