Today, April 2, is the 16th death anniversary of National Artist for Music and Literature Levi Celerio.
Born in Tondo, Manila, on April 30, 1910, he received a scholarship from the Academy of Music in Manila.
He later joined the Manila Symphony Orchestra.
As a lyricist and composer, Celerio wrote around 4,000 songs.
He landed in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the only man who could play music on a leaf.
He was named a National Artist in 1997. —Marielle Medina
