SAN PEDRO CITY-At least three vacationers reportedly drowned, while one went missing, as people spent Holy Week in beach and resorts in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon).
In Batangas province, two persons died in separate incidents of drowning on Good Friday, while one went missing in Taal Lake, the regional police headquarters said in a report Saturday.
The first incident was reported around 9 a.m. in Barangay Calayo, Nasugbu town, where Eljon Eragan drowned at the Calayo beach resort.
Eragan was rushed to the Jabez Medical Center in the town but was dead on arrival.
In Sto. Tomas town, Kerby Sanchez drowned in a swimming pool in Barangay San Antonio around 1:30 p.m., the police said.
Still in Batangas, Arvin Almendral went missing since 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Almendral’s friend, also named Arvin, told the police that they last saw Almendral diving into Taal Lake in Barangay Poblacion, Laurel town.
Almendral’s friends sought help from the authorities when he failed to surface after about half an hour.
In Rizal province, Francis Macatol was found dead in a pool at Marlew Resort in Barangay Tayuman, Binangonan.
According to the police report, the resort staff were about to drain the water and clean the pool when they found Macatol’s body.
