CEBU CITY-Three persons were killed while six others were wounded in a riot inside a cockpit on Good Friday at Sitio Tabalugo, Barangay Budlasan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
Personal grudge between the leaders of the two groups triggered the riot about 3 p.m., said Chief Insp. Wilfredo Alarcon, Canlaon police chief, in a phone interview.
Killed were leaders of the two groups — Elmer Patiña and Glen Galvan, as well as Victor Bravo.
Wounded were Jeric Patiña, Mark Glenn Galvan, Alex Taburada, Edmund Galvan, Nemenio Bucog and a man identified only as Peligrino.
Alarcon said Galvan and Elmer Patiña bore a grudge against each other after they two had a fight also inside a cockpit.
When they met again on Good Friday, the police chief said the two were drunk.
