Lenten travelers continue to swell at ports–PCG

More travelers continue to rush on Friday to different ports in the country amid the Holy Week exodus.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that a huge influx of passenger movementhad been noticed in various ports across the country on Good Friday, March 30.

In a travel update, the PCG reported about 49,451 outbound passengers in all ports nationwide. The biggest movement was monitored in Western Visayas where 18,077 passengers reportedly passed through seaports, the PCG said.

The PCG also recorded 6,261 passengers in Davao ports, followed by Central Visayas ports with 4,849 passengers, Southern Tagalog ports with 4,434 passengers, Bicol with 4,366, and Northern Mindanao with 3,709.

The agency also monitored 2,899 outbound passengers in Metro Manila and Central Luzon, 2,869 passengers in Palawan, and 1,614 passengers in Southern Visayas.

Less than 400 outbound passengers, meanwhile, were reported in ports in Northwestern Luzon and Northeastern Luzon.

No unusual or untoward incident had been reported thus far by the PCG Passenger Assistance Centers in all ports. The PCG said it would continue monitoring passenger flow in line with “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2018.” /jpv
