Zamboanga Sibugay village councilman nabbed for drug pushing

PAGADIAN CITY–Police authorities and anti-drug agents arrested a village official of Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday.

Arrested was Abdulraup Amil Akmad, 42, a barangay Kagawad of Poblacion, Malangas, Lyndon Aspacio, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) in Western Mindanao, said.

A buy-bust operation was conducted against Akmad after it was verified that he was indeed into drug pushing, Aspacio said.

Aspacio said what was lamentable was that Akmad was even the chair of the village council’s peace and order committee.

Seized from the village official, he said, were three packets of shabu weighing about 10 grams worth about P50,000 and the marked money used in the sting.

Akmad had been charged under Section 5 (Selling of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. LEAH AGONOY
