DIGOS CITY – An inmate at the Digos district jail in this city was killed while another one was eventually recaptured after they escaped from the facility managed by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
The jailbreak took place around noontime Tuesday, Supt. Deozar Almasa, city police chief, said.
He identified the slain inmate as murder suspect Bakotal Tiwan.
Almasa said Tiwan was killed in the pursuit conducted by BJMP personnel
He said Tiwan’s companion, homicide suspect Miroy Digan, was injured when shot on the leg by pursuing BJMP personnel and had been recaptured.
BJMP sources said an investigation was being conducted to determine how the two inmates staged the daring broad daylight escape from the facility, which was suppose to be heavily-secured.
