Driver killed, wife hurt in crash on new Santiago City bypass road

TUGUEGARAO CITY—A trader was killed while his wife was hurt when his motorcycle collided with a van along the newly-opened bypass road in Santiago City on Sunday.

The motorcycle carrying Ronald Cordova and his wife Virgie was crossing the intersection in Barangay (Village) Ambalatungan when it was rear ended by a Toyota Hi Ace van, driven by Rigor Rosete, at around 10 a.m.

The couple was thrown off the motorcycle, landing about 30 meters.

Cordova was pronounced dead more than two hours later at the hospital. Virgie is in critical condition, said P02 Jay Villar, police investigator.

Police said not all traffic signs have been put up at the newly opened bypass road. /je
