Day care children join draw and tell contest

ABOUT 200 day care children in Central Visayas (CV) competed in the singing, folk dancing and draw and tell regional contest initiated by the Department of Welfare and Development (DSWD) at SM City Cebu Event Center recently.

Danao City garnered first place for the folk dance category, while Cebu City placed second and Toledo City, third.

They took home cash prizes of P8,000, P5,500 and P3,500, respectively. Non-winners received a consolation prize of P2,500 each.

For the singing category, Bogo City placed first, followed by Bayawan City at second place and Toledo City at third.  For the draw and tell category, Vallehermoso town in Negros Oriental got the first prize, while the municipality of Garcia Hernandez in Bohol emerged second and Dumaguete City, third.

The winners in both categories received cash prizes of P3,500, P2,500 and and P1,500 for the first, second and third prizes, while non-winners brought home P800 each.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “ Local council for the protection of children, para sa bright child: Pakilusin, palakasin, pagtulungan natin” was focused on the importance of the creation of the local or barangay councils for the protection of children as well as early childhood care and development.
