Farmer killed; wife and kids wounded in BIFF attack

MIDSAYAP, NORTH COTABATO–A 40-year-old farmer was killed while his wife and two children were wounded in an attack by suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in the village of Tumbras here on Thursday. 

Supt. Gilbert Tuzon, town police chief, said Franco Mantikayan, a rice farmer and resident of Tumbras, was shot repeatedly in the attack on his house by five armed men around 8 p.m. Wounded were Mantikayan’s wife, Badria, 42, and the couple’s two girls, aged 7 and 3. –EDWIN O. FERNANDEZ
