Gun-toting cop lands in hospital after being mauled in Laguna bar
SAN PEDRO CITY-A policeman ended up in a hospital in Los Baños town in Laguna province after being mauled in a bar where he allegedly pointed his gun at a customer on Friday.
Inspector Roselle Orate, spokesperson of the Los Baños police, in a phone interview Friday said an investigation was underway as to why Police Officer 2 Junjit Eludo, who was assigned in Paete town in Laguna, was at the Nesting Ground bar in Los Baños when he had yet to finish his shift at 4 a.m.
Eludo was already drunk when he got involved in a fight with fellow bar customer Gerard Maligalig, says a report from the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) police.
During their confrontation, Eludo allegedly drew and aimed his gun at Maligalig, who in turn was able to snatch the weapon away from the policeman. Maligalig and the other bar customers then mauled Eludo.
Eludo was brought to the Los Baños Doctors Hospital for his injuries,
Orate said.
She said Maligalig had filed a complaint against the policeman, who was also set to file his counter charges.
