2 men nabbed in Quezon over illegal guns

LUCENA CITY–Police arrested two men found carrying unlicensed firearms in Candelaria town in Quezon province Thursday night.

Patrolling policemen chanced upon a commotion along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Malabanban Norte around 10:45 p.m., according to Quezon police director Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento.

Hendrix Ferrer, 42, and Jimmy Magbuhos, 49, were found threatening and harassing a businessman and his companion, a police report said.

Ferrer was caught armed with a Black Widow caliber .22 magnum revolver loaded with four bullets and one fired cartridge case on its cylinder.

Police also seized from Magbuhos one Norinco caliber .45 pistol loaded with five live ammunition and two extra magazines with seven bullets. Both firearms do not have licenses.

The suspects were having a quarrel with the other party, Candelaria police chief Supt. Eduard Mallo said in a phone interview.
