Thunderstorms expected in Metro Manila, nearby areas

Moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds are expected in Metro Manila on Wednesday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, which issued an advisory at 2:45 p.m., also warned of thunderstorms in Nueva Ecija and Quezon in the next two hours.

“The above conditions are being experienced in Rizal (Antipolo, Teresa, Baras, Morong) and Batangas (Ibaan, Taysan and Lobo), which may persist within 1 to 2 hours,” Pagasa said.

It also advised the public to take precautionary measures against the impact of the thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are expected in Northern Luzon due to the northeast monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said. /jpv
