The Philippine Army has set up an “express lane” for compensation claims of its personnel to serve them better and their families.

“We have added an express lane for the quick processing of benefit claims,” Army chief Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista said Tuesday at the 121st founding anniversary of the Philippine Army in Taguig City.

The length of time for processing was cut down from one year to two only months, while the documents required for the claims were down to four from original 25.

Financial assistance was also given to the families of 300 soldiers killed-in-action in the past year.

Meanwhile, wounded soldiers were given “proper treatment required” for their respective conditions, Bautista said.

At the same event, President Rodrigo Duterte highlighted his campaign promise to improve the lives of soldiers and their families.

“I can assure you that the government is doing its best to ensure that our men in uniform are provided with the benefits and armed with equipment to perform their duties effectively,” he said. /atm
