The Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston)-led transport strike was generally peaceful and did not affect the traffic situation in Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Monday.
In its 5 p.m. update, the NCRPO has recorded zero incident of harassment or intimidation by protesting drivers in all five police districts, including the Northern Police District, Eastern Police District, Manila Police District, Southern Police District, and Quezon City Police District.
The NCRPO has recorded a total of 290 stranded passengers around Metro Manila, 100 of which were in Pasong Tamo and Washington in Makati and in Alabang.
A total of 130 passengers were also stranded in Novaliches, Batasan, Cubao, Anonas, and Galas in Quezon City, while 40 in BMC and Monumento in Caloocan City.
The police have deployed a total of 90 personnel and 28 vehicles around the capital to ensure order in the whole-day strike, which protested the looming jeepney phaseout.
Several schools and offices have suspended classes and work on Sunday night in anticipation of the impact of the activity./ac
