Rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over the eastern section of the country, which is being affected by the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the agency noted Caraga and Davao regions would experience overcast skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Pagasa advised residents in those areas to take caution on possible flooding and landslides as light to heavy rain are likely to occur in their areas.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau predicted partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain due to localized thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.                   /kga
