The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has denied the appeal of Miascor Aviation Services, seeking a reconsideration of the pending termination of its contract as ground-handling service provider in several airports in the country.
“After careful evaluation of facts surrounding an incident of baggage pilferage involving Miascor’s employees, and in line with the clear directive of President Duterte for Miascor’s contract to be terminated, the DOTr denies the appeal of Miascor, and stands firm in its decision to not to renew the company’s contract with the Manila International Airports Authority (MIAA) beyond April 2018,” the DOTr said in a statement.
“The President has also said that he will not entertain any appeal from Miascor Aviation Services,” the DOTr added.
Ed Monreal, general manager of MIAA, the state-run administrator of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, said Miascor’s concession contract would be terminated on April 21. —JEROME ANING
