The Manila Police District (MPD) on Thursday filed a complaint for murder against one of its police officers for the death of a 13-year old teenager in Tondo, Manila.
Police Officer 2 Omar Malinao, 35 has been slapped with a murder complaint before the Manila Prosecutors Office.
The incident happened at about 8 in the evening of March 2 while the victim, Aldrinne Pineda and two other boys were sitting along the fence of Vitas Slaughterhouse when a man holding a flashlight who appeared to be securing the place approached them.
The victim’s companion ran away just as a gunshot was heard and the man ran away.
Pineda was taken to the Tondo Medical Center but died while undergoing treatment.
Two days later, Malinao submitted an incident report.
On the other hand, the victim’s mother, Michelle, on March 5 submitted a deformed fired bullet which was recovered from the crime scene.
Upon microscopic examination and comparison of the specimen, the 9mm deformed fired bullet was discovered to have the same individual characteristic with the test bullet fired from the Glock 17 Gen 4 pistol with serial number that matched to the firearm issued to Malinao.
Malinao earlier claimed that the shooting was an accident when he fell to the ground and accidentally pulling the trigger.
