San Fernando, Cebu councilor killed in ambush

CEBU CITY – A councilor of a southern town in Cebu was killed in an ambush about 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The police identified the victim as Alexander Alicaway, a municipal councilor of San Fernando, about 70 km south of here.

According to Senior Inspector Adrian Nalua, chief of San Fernando Police Station, the incident happened at the back gate of a public market in San Fernand around 5 p.m.

Nalua said two men onboard a motorcycle shot Alicaway.

Alicaway was rushed to the nearest hospital but failed to make it.
