2 held for selling marijuana in Lucena

LUCENA CITY–Two alleged marijuana peddlers, one of them a 15-year-old boy, were arrested in buy-bust operations in this city on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Anti-illegal drug operatives arrested John Cyrill Almendras, 21, after he sold a sachet of marijuana to an undercover police in Barangay Gulang-Gulang around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, said Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director.

Authorities seized from Almendras two grams of the “weeds” worth P3,000 in the street market.

Almendras’ partner, Adrian De Ramos, was able to escape and elude arrest.

On Tuesday, police arrested a minor who yielded two grams of marijuana and a sachet of crystal meth (“shabu”) worth P500.

The 15-year-old suspect was turned over to local Social Welfare and Development office for disposition, while drug charges were being prepared.

With the scarcity of shabu in the local market, a police agent revealed that most drug users have shifted to marijuana.
