SAN MATEO, ISABELA–A farmer was charged on Monday (Mar. 12) for killing his brother-in-law with a kitchen knife on Sunday night (Mar. 11) at San Roque village here.
Reynald Dayao allegedly stabbed Edison Blanza multiple times for intervening in a fight he was having with Dayao’s wife, said Chief Insp. Richard Gatan, San Mateo police chief.
Dayao, who was drunk, allegedly struck his wife with his fist, prompting Blanza to punch his brother-in-law. Irked, Dayao grabbed a kitchen knife and attacked Blanza, police said.
Blanza was brought to the San Mateo Integrated Hospital but he died while undergoing treatment.
Dayao claimed he acted in self-defense. He was charged with homicide at the provincial prosecutor’s office.
