De Lima says public has nothing to worry about her health

Even as she assured that the public has nothing to worry about her health, Senator Leila de Lima on Monday asked the public for prayers as she waits for the results of her medical examination on the mass found in her liver.

“There is nothing to worry about. This is just part of a routine medical checkup to determine if I should go through an operation to avoid any complications,” De Lima said in a statement hours after undergoing check-up at the Philippine Heart Center Monday afternoon.

Following her routine and periodic medical examination last February, De Lima said her physician ordered that I have to immediately undergo further examination, particularly “CT Scan (tri-phase) of the liver” due to a finding of an impression of a “liver mass.”

“As prescribed by my doctor, the said test is necessary to determine if the liver mass is benign or malignant,” she said.

De Lima vowed to fulfill her duties as senator despite her health conditions and continuing detention at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

“At bilang bahagi ng pananagutan ko bilang lingkod-bayan, agad ko pong ipagbibigay alam sa publiko ang resulta ng nasabing medical examination ukol sa estado ng aking kalusugan,” De Lima said.

(As part of my accountability as public servant, I will immediately release publicly the results of my medical examination on my state of health.)

“Makakaasa po kayo, patuloy kong haharapin ang mga imbentong kaso laban sa akin. Patuloy ko ring gagawin ang aking obligasyon para sa kapakanan at karapatan ng ating mga kababayan,” she added.

(Rest assured that I will continue to face the trumped-up cases against me. I will also fulfill my obligations for the welfare and rights of the people.)

“Ipagdasal n’yo po ako. Maraming salamat po,” she said.

(Please pray for me. Thank you.)

De Lima has been detained at the Custodial Center since last year over drug charges. She has denied the allegations.
