In “bloodless” operations conducted within a 48-hour period from Friday to Sunday morning, the Quezon City Police District arrested 55 drug suspects, some of whom had been stopped for routine traffic violations or drinking in public.
A total of 78 sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) were also seized in the antidrug operations conducted separately by 11 police stations.
First to be arrested were Emilinda Nola, 34, and Edgardo Amper, 29, who were caught in a shabu session at Barangay Pasong Tamo by Talipapa policemen at 9 a.m. on Friday.
Later that day, Talipapa policemen again caught 11 men having a “pot” session in Barangay Unang Sigaw. The suspects yielded dried marijuana and two sachets of shabu.
Although many of the suspects were caught in drug busts, some were initially accosted for unrelated offenses.
Crisencio Bernante, 38, and Danny Rey, 32, were apprehended by Galas policemen for drinking in public at Barangay Doña Imelda at 11 p.m. on Saturday.
A check, however, of their pockets yielded a sachet of shabu.
