OLONGAPO CITY – Four suspected robbers were killed in a shootout with policemen in Iba town in Zambales province on Thursday morning (Mar. 8).

The suspects, who robbed a money lending office, had engaged policemen in a gunfight, said PO3 Ernel Dave, investigator at the Iba Municipal Police Station.

Police said they responded to the scene after the owner of the lending office reported the robbery at about 11 a.m.

The police arrived just as the suspects were about to leave the lending office on board a red Ford Everest, carrying jewelry worth P50,000 and P50,000 in cash.

The policemen exchanged fire with five male suspects for 15 minutes, and killed four of them. The surviving robber managed to escape, Dave said. /lb
