TUGUEGARAO CITY—Police on Thursday (Mar. 8) arrested a retired provincial treasurer of Ifugao province over a 14-year-old graft complaint he is facing at the Sandiganbayan, the anti-graft court.

Samuel Marinay, 67, was arrested inside his house in Barangay (village) Roxas in Solano town in the neighboring province of Nueva Vizcaya shortly before noon.

Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, Cagayan Valley police director, said Marinay has been implicated in the overpriced purchase of a second-hand vehicle in 2003, during his term.

The retired official was released after posting P30,000 bail.
