CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, BULACAN—A suspected member of the New People’s Army was killed in a Wednesday (Mr. 7) clash with policemen and soldiers in Bulacan province’s San Ildefonso town.

The fatality was identified only as “Buddy” who was allegedly part of the communist rebels’ Platoon Troop Sierra Madre, said Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., Bulacan police director.

Caramat said the suspect fought from a safehouse in Barangay (village) Nabaong Garlang when a joint police and military surveillance team chanced upon him.

Caramat said the team recovered a hand grenade and a .38 caliber revolver.
