The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday that it could not be declared as summer season yet due to the northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan.”
Pagasa Climate Monitoring chief Annaliza Solis said that the agency could still not monitor a continuous presence of easterlies or warm weather in the country because of the recurrence of amihan.
The criteria that determine that the summer season has entered already have not yet been reached, Solis said.
The Pagasa official said that it would likely declare the start of summer season by the month of April. /je
