Repair work on a broken pipeline of Maynilad Water Services Inc. at the border of Las Piñas and Parañaque was already finished on Monday night, but households in southern Metro Manila and Cavite province will need to wait a little longer before their regular water supply resumes.

The water utility noted it had completed the repair of an emergency leak on Coastal Road at 9:40 p.m. Monday, after a blow-off valve of its 1.4-meter primary line broke because of high water pressure.

Water services supposed to have returned by 8 p.m. Monday.

“However, the valve along Kabihasnan [in Parañaque] could not be fully opened to let the water flow through the primary line,” Maynilad said in a statement on Tuesday.

The water service, which was cut off starting Monday morning, could not be returned yet “and would be extended until further notice.”

On a separate advisory, Maynilad said the water service could be restored between 8 p.m. Tuesday (March 6) and 2 a.m. Wednesday (March) 7 “asumming no further issues will develop on site.”

Angry customers took to Maynilad’s official Facebook page to air their frustration about the extended service interruption.

Netizen Feather Trompeta, who expected the water service to return by 4 p.m. Tuesday, compelled Maynilad to “fix the problem ASAP.”

“You don’t want to cause a sudden riot in your business offices, if you know what I mean,” she warned.

Emil San Pedro of Imus asked Maynilad to “act on their own” to deploy water tanks in affected communities.

“Dapat no need to call for water tank request. Alam ninyo naman po na walang supply ng tubig. Kayo na po ang magkusa,” he posted.

Maynilad said it would move the scheduled temporary shutting down of the Pagcor pumping station, causing water supply in some areas in Parañaque, Las Piñas and Cavite province to be cut off from noon of March 7 to 6 a.m. March 8.

“This has been done in consideration of our customers who are already experiencing a service interruption in these same areas due to the emergency leak along Coastal Road,” Maynilad said in a separate statement.
