The fiasco involving a coconut vendor who was mauled by Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel took an ironic turn after police arrested the vendor for a murder case way back in 2007.
Coconut vendor Romnick Relos was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) after it was discovered that he was wanted for a murder case in Masbate.

The young coconut vendor was put in the spotlight after a video went viral on social media where he was seen being mauled by MMDA Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group personnel.

The incident occurred on March 2 at the vicinity of EDSA-Evangelista footbridge in Pasay City.

The incident prompted the MMDA to issue a 15-day preventive suspension order against the three personnel. They were also subjected to a drug test, where all of them tested negative. With Mark Makalalad, Radyo Inquirer /je
