A southbound train of the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) offloaded its passengers on Monday afternoon’s rush hour due to a system failure.

In an advisory, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said passengers were offloaded at the Quezon Avenue station at 5:13 p.m. due to ATP (Signaling) Error.

The service disruption was caused by “worn out ATP sub-components” particularly the ATP sensor, Narvaez said.

ATP stands for “automatic train protection.”

Affected passengers were loaded on a different train which arrived nine minutes after.

As of 5:25 p.m., there are only eight running trains for the MRT-3, Narvaez said.

Recently, the MRT-3 management was able to record a zero-glitch for seven days. /je
