Fugitive Chinese national arrested, to be deported

/ 06:40 AM March 03, 2018

A Chinese national who was seeing off his parents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) ended up behind bars after he turned out to be a fugitive wanted for economic crimes in his own country.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is preparing to deport Jiang Yabo, 36, following his arrest at the Naia Terminal 2 on Monday. BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the suspect was wanted for economic crimes in China.

He fled to the Philippines in 2016 and has stayed in the country since then. “We will deport him for being an undesirable and undocumented alien,” Morente said.—JULIE M. AURELIO
