An 18-year-old man was killed in an alleged shootout with Quezon City policemen during a supposed drug bust early on Friday, police said.

Bryan Salme Montawan, a Manila resident, was reportedly declared dead on arrival at Quezon City General Hospital around 1:15 a.m., after he and three companions allegedly tried to evade arrest while transacting with members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

A report to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD director, said Montawan arrived at the corner of Congressional and Tandang Sora Avenues in Barangay Pasong Tamo around midnight on board a Toyota Vios with a certain Joel de Leon, 25, and two other unidentified suspects.

Sensing the presence of cops, they sped off while exchanging shots with them.  .—JHESSET O. ENANO
