Ruckus at Quezon City jail

/ 08:15 AM November 20, 2011

An inmate reportedly suffering from mental illness caused a ruckus at the Quezon City Jail past midnight Saturday when he climbed the jail’s ceiling after picking fights with fellow jailbirds.

Jail warden, Supt. Joseph Vela, said the inmate, Ricardo Buscano, 37, was a bit of a “troublemaker” at the jampacked city jail.

The accused is reportedly facing murder charges and has a history of picking fights with fellow detainees.

Vela said Buscano challenged a fellow detainee to a square off late Friday night but jail guards calmed him. He was told to keep still but instead, he scaled the jail’s beams until he reached the ceiling.

Jail officers called for help from a rescue team of the Bureau of Fire Protection in order to bring Buscano down an hour later.
