PAGADIAN CITY – Authorities have collared one of the three suspects in the killing of a 27-year-old farmer early this week, police said on Thursday.
Case investigator SPO2 Reynaldo Hilot identified the arrested suspect as Fedelino Embalsado, a resident of Barangay Simata in Molave, Zamboanga del Sur. Two other suspects identified as Ruel Banawa, of Barangay Balucot in Tambulig town, and Johny Boy Embalsado remain at large.
Witnesses pointed to the three men as the ones responsible for the death of Marjohn Omongos, who was shot dead early Tuesday morning near his house in Molave town.
Omongos, according to Hilot, was coming out of his house to feed his livestock around 5 a.m. when the suspects suddenly appeared and tried to attack him. Omongos jumped off the back window of his house to ran away but the suspects chased him. The suspects allegedly shot and killed the farmer when they eventually cornered him.
The motive behind Omongos’ killing is still undetermined, police said.
Hilot said Fedelino, who was arrested late Tuesday, is being temporarily held at the Molave police jail. A murder complaint had since been filed against Fedelino and the two other suspects. /kga
