DID YOU KNOW: 1,217 fires hit Metro Manila in 1st quarter of 2017

March was declared Fire Prevention Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 115-A signed in 1966 by then President Ferdinand Marcos.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, there were 1,217 fire incidents in Metro Manila in the first quarter of 2017.


Of the total, 597 fires were nonstructural, 560 were structural, while 60 were transportation-related. —Marielle Medina
