People curious of occult urged to stick to Christian rites

A priest of the Archdiocese of Manila who specializes in exorcism has taken to social media to remind Catholics to stick only to Christian rites.

“Our disposition as Catholics must always be: ‘Solo Dios basta! God alone suffices!’ As long as God is with us, it is enough,” said Fr. Winston Cabading.

The priest posted on his Facebook account a prayer entitled the “Renouncement of the Occult and All-Powers and Practices Derived From It.”

Cabading noted that some building contractors routinely offered blood from an animal as a “peace offering” to elementals or nature’s spirits.

The prayer for renouncing the occult, he said, should be recited while kneeling or prostrated, before the Blessed Sacrament, an icon of Jesus Christ or a crucifix. —Julie M. Aurelio
