According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s Metro Manila Accident Recording and Analysis System, a total of 434 persons died in the 423 fatal accidents reported in 2017.
Both figures were lower compared to the 446 people who were killed in the 426 fatal accidents recorded in 2016.
A total of 19,374 persons suffered nonfatal injuries from road accidents in 2017. This was 7.19 percent lower compared to the 20,876 injured persons in 2016. —Marielle Medina
