CITY OF SAN FERNANDO-The father of a militiaman turned over 22 grenades to the Philippine Army’s 70th Infantry Battalion in Bulacan province on Feb. 23, the Armed Forces’ Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) said on Saturday (Feb. 24).
In a statement, Nolcom said Rene Alcaraz, father of a member of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary, said the grenades were found in April 2005 in a lot in Barangay (village) San Mateo in Norzagaray town. It said the Army was trying to determine the source of the grenades.
Nolcom also reported the surrender of an alleged member of the New People’s Army in Cagayan Valley, the second to yield to the 17th Infantry Battalion since December.
Joel Ballinan, 19, surrendered on Feb. 23 in Rizal town. He supposedly used the aliases Joren and Javier as a logistics officer and team leader of a squad in the Danilo Ben Command of the NPA.
