BORACAY ISLAND, AKLAN-Workers using jackhammers have started the demolition of illegal structures at a controversial resort here on Saturday.
The workers tore structures built on rock formations at the Boracay West Cove Resort in Barangay Balabag around 10:15 a.m.
Property owner Crisostomo Aquino earlier agreed to demolish the structures after Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu threatened to remove them because these were built outside areas covered by a property lease agreement with the government and because these were on rock formations.
Cimatu is expected to inspect the implementation of the demolition.
