Over P1.2 million worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) was seized in a drug bust by Quezon City police from two men who are allegedly notorious drug peddlers in at least three cities in the metropolis.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspects as Samim Mapandi, 29, and Junarie Basher, 26. Both are natives of Lanao del Sur province and are reportedly living in Manila.
Chief Insp. Ferdinand Mendoza, chief of QCPD’s drug enforcement unit, said the two suspects were some of the biggest suppliers of illegal drugs in Quezon City, Pasay City and Manila.
He said the two suspects had been under “intense intelligence monitoring” for a month before they were arrested.
Authorities said Mapandi and Basher were collared in front of a bank at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Biak na Bato Street in Barangay Santo Domingo around 1:30 a.m.
An undercover cop bought around P600,000 worth of shabu from the pair during the bust before they were nabbed.
Seized were four big sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 200 grams.
Mapandi and Basher face charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
