Manila court orders transfer of Taguba to PNP jail

10:47 AM February 23, 2018

The Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) has ordered the immediate transfer of Customs broker Mark Ruben Taguba II to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center.

During a court hearing on Friday, Manila RTC Branch 46 Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa has allowed the transfer citing security reasons.

The court has also reset the arraignment of Taguba and Eirene Mae Tatad to April 6 because of their pending motions to quash. The motion to quash sought the dismissal of the information or charge sheet against them.

Tatad, who was also arrested early this month is currently detained at the Manila City Jail for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, specifically for importing dangerous drugs

Taguba and Tatad are among the accused in the controversial P6.4 billion shabu shipment from China. /muf
