A low pressure area was expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.
The LPA was last spotted 1,540 kilometers east of Mindanao, weather forecaster Gener Quitlong of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Thursday.
But the weather disturbance was not expected to intensify into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours.
The northeast monsoon continues to affect extreme northern Luzon, Pagasa said.
Ilocos Norte, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The easterlies, meanwhile, were affecting the eastern portion of the country.
