LUCENA CITY–An intensified campaign against illegal coconut lumber operators in Quezon province uncovered abandoned coco lumber in Mauban town on Wednesday.
Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, on Thursday said a police team found a pile of abandoned coconut lumber in Barangay Santol around 1 p.m.
The lumber, with a total volume of 1,000 board feet (2.35 cubic meters), was worth P14,000.
Police also found, in another operation in Barangay Santo Angel, 30 pieces of abandoned coconut lumber with a total volume of 246 board feet (0.58 cubic meter) worth P3,690 in the underground market.
The seized coconut products are under the custody of Mauban police, to be turned over to the Philippine Coconut Authority for proper disposition.
