LUCENA CITY–A suspected drug pusher, who is included in the Top 10 police watch list, was killed in an alleged shootout with policemen in Tiaong town, Quezon province on Wednesday morning.
Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, said policemen armed with a search warrant swooped on the house of Jerson Arbes Parungao in Sitio (sub-village) Makina in Barangay (village) Cabatang around 8 a.m.
Parungao, reportedly fired at the lawmen, upon their arrival, using a caliber .38 revolver.
One of the raiders fired back and fatally hit Parungao on the chest.
Aside from the firearm, the raiders also confiscated more than P1,000 worth of crystal meth or “shabu,” packed in six sachets.
Also recovered were 33 bullets for caliber .9-mm bullets; 18 bullets for caliber .22 pistol and one rocket-propelled grenade.
Armamento said the victim was a notorious drug pusher and included in the Top 10 local police watch list.
“The case built up against him was a joint effort of the local police and concerned volunteers from our community mobilization program (CMP),” Armamento said in a phone interview.
Under the CMP, concerned villagers conducted constant monitoring of those suspected of engaging in illegal activities in their area.
