The Pasig police have launched a manhunt against one of two men who shot and wounded a policeman on an anti-drug surveillance operation on Wednesday morning, the Eastern Police District said.
A report submitted by Pasig police chief Senior Supt Orlando Yebra Jr., said they were searching for a certain Ronnel Collo for allegedly shooting PO1 Fitz Walter Gullanan, 26, a member of the Pasig’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU).
Gullanan was hit in the upper right arm.
A bystander identified as Yolanda Duroja of San Agustin Street was also hit during the exchange of fire.
Yebra said Gullanan was on his motorcycle with an informant and was talking to a someone at the corner of Baltazar and Agustin Streets when the two gunmen shot him from behind at about 1 am.
Police said the gunmen were on a black Honda Wave motorcycle with plate number 4083 QB.
Gullanan managed to shoot back prompting the two men to run into San Agustin street, leaving behind their motorcycle.
The policeman and the bystander were brought to the hospital and are now stable.
PO2 Patrick Baldemor, also of the DEU who responded to the scene, told the Inquirer that prior to the attack, Gullanan heard a motorcycle speeding toward them.
Gullanan identified Collo as one of the shooters.
In his report, Yebra said said Collo was already the subject of a manhunt by the DEU, the intelligence branch and the follow-up section of the Pasig Police.
Recovered from the crime scene were five shells and two deformed slugs of unknown firearm. /cbb
