LUCENA CITY – Six men allegedly involved in illegal drag race were arrested by policemen in Sariaya town in Quezon province over the weekend, police reported on Monday.
Quezon police director Sr. Supt. Rhoderick Armamento said policemen, acting on information from concerned villagers, apprehended Jay Castillo, 18; Monchet Villoria, 31; Julius Rama, 20; Mc Arron Mendoza, 25; Respert Esplana, 24; and Kennedy Obon, 25, while engaged in motorcycle racing in Barangay (village) Pili late Sunday afternoon.
Police said the racers placed money bets and engaged in illegal gambling in violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Illegal Gambling). /kga
