Makati’s Nicanor Garcia Street closed on Saturday

MANILA, Philippines—Makati City will close both lanes of Nicanor Garcia Street (formerly Reposo ) from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, but Jupiter Street and Kalayaan Avenue will remain open to motorists as the city celebrates its Street Art Festival.

“Tuklas Sining Festival” is part of a series of events leading to the celebration of Makati’s 341st founding anniversary on June 1, according to a press statement issued by the mayor’s spokesperson Joey Salgado.

Grupo Reposo, a group of art gallery owners, will share exhibit some of their local and international collections, while another artists’ group will hold free painting lessons on site for children from the Bahay Maria orphanage and Virlanie Foundation.

Alliance Francaise de Manille will hold free screenings of French films at its auditorium, while artist Ferdinand Cacnio will open his show of 18 art pieces at the LRI Pavilion.

The festival will also feature music and theater performances from OPM singers Heber Bartolome, Rox Puno, impersonator Jon Santos and Teatro Ambahanon, who will stage live acts at LRI Design Plaza.

Bazaars offering antiques, rare collectibles, artworks and even gourmet food and specialty stores will also be set up during the festival.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes.
