Body of OFW killed in Taiwan quake arrives in Cagayan hometown

BAYOMBONG, NUEVA VIZCAYA–—The remains of Melody Castro, the overseas Filipino worker who was killed in a quake in Taiwan last week, arrived at the Tuguegarao City airport on Thursday, where she was met by members of her family, led by her father Nonilet Albano.

Castro’s boxed remains was carried by Cebu Pacific flight 5J 504, which touched down at the airport at 11:40 am, 30 minutes behind schedule, according to Pilipina Dino, Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) acting Cagayan Valley director.

Castro’s remains is set to be brought to the Saint Peter Funeral Homes, where it would be transported by hearse to Banguian village in her hometown of Abulug, which is about 130 km north of Tuguegarao.

Meanwhile, OWWA Deputy Administrator Arnell Ignacio turned over to Castro’s family the proceeds of her insurance benefits and other cash assistance.   /muf
