Valentine’s Day brings out sweetness among lovers, and a dash of regret, if not sadness, for some singles.
On Wednesday, some senators joined the heart’s day celebration by posting their photos on social media with their wife or husband.
On Instagram, Senator Nancy Binay posted a photo of her and her husband apparently taken in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. The photo was captioned: HHWWCC (Holding Hands While Walking Calle Crisologo).”
“Ang love parang kalsada. Tingnan mo ang mga signs para di ka mawala’t maligaw (Love is like a street. Look at the signs so that you won’t get lost). Happy Valentine’s Day,” the caption further reads with hashtags #BeNice #IlocosSur #Vigan.

But for Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Valentine’s Day has not been a happy day for him for the last 10 years.
“Happy Valentine’s Day. Ako hindi happy ‘yung Valentine’s Day ko e (My Valentine’s Day isn’t happy),” Gatchalian said in jest when he commenced the hearing of the Senate committee on energy, which he chairs. His remark drew laughter from the hearing room.
“For the last 10 years, hindi happy po ang Valentines ko (my Valentines have not been happy),” the senator added. /je
