A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck Leyte past midnight of Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
A Phivolcs report indicated that the earthquake struck West of Kananga at 1:01 a.m.
The tremor had a depth of 8 kilometers and had a tectonic origin, report showed.
The quake was also felt in the following areas:
Intensity IV
Capoocan, Leyte
Palompon, Leyte
Intensity II
Cebu City
Earlier, the east of Albuera Leyte was also jolted by a magnitude 3.7 quake at 5:59 p.m. of Tuesday.
The temblor was felt at Intensity IV in Ormoc City.
The depth of the first quake was 4 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.
Phivolcs said no damage and aftershocks would be expected from the two quakes. /cbb
